Its the Chinese Year of the Horse
Images, symbols, stories, archetypes can often help us talk or think about what we need to do in our work or life. I thought this piece written by Erin Bateman in February 2026 captured some ideas about leading that I wanted to share. I have been obsessed with horses since watching 'Yellowstone' I don't ride but I'm bewitched by their movement.
I am adding to this blog and website material that captures my attention because somehow it connects to work with my clients often more than one individual and often to me as well. Thats in the nature of our connections. I hope you find it interesting too .
Horse energy - the final shedding : closing the year of the snake
'The horse is about movement and embodiment.
courage
freedom
passion
wild vitality
what must I release?
where am I ready to run?
the horse does not slither in the shadows; it runs in the open fields
healthy horse energy needs rhythm not reckless galloping
The rhythm of the drum
too fast and we burn out
too slow and we stagnate
The transition from snake to horse requires conscious pacing.
This year is for movement, aligned movement
Steady momentum rather than sudden bursts
What does freedom mean to me in my body, work and relationships?
How do I move towards my vision without abandoning my nervous system?
Moving from containment to expression
Honour the inward journey (snake) before outward momentum builds
Shed what contricts you: roles, fears, narratives. Your path affects the whole collective awareness
Embrace movement but find sustainable rhythm
Live life like a sustainable drumbeat not a panic.
Reflection prompts:
What am I no longer available for?
What kind of freedom am I truly seeking?
Where in my life am I ready to move forward boldly?
What community will I run with this year?
How do I maintain connection with nature?
What does aligned ambition feel like in my body?
This is the year to run but not to flee
Run towards what is true
Run with those who share your values
Run with the rhythm of the earth
Shed then move.'
